Arrays are presented as different from immutable numbers because two array variables can share the same underlying memory and behave differently on mutation. A Python variable stores a value in memory under a meaningful name. When one immutable variable is assigned to another and the original is reassigned, the second variable does not update. Each reassignment creates a new memory allocation for that variable name while previous bindings remain unchanged. Python assignment uses the equals sign, and variables can later be updated or used to derive other variables. Variable names should describe the values they represent.
